Exploring Paddington

Paddington Markets is a large scale market that supports local designers and traders who are passionate about sharing their art and craft with the local community. This market started in 1973, as Australian artists and designers filled over 100 stalls with their unique products, including fashion, accessories, soaps and pictures. There is an Emerging Designers section in the courtyard where you can appreciate the passion and creativity of this local craft industry. There are also spaces where you can chill in the shade with a gozleme or cake and coffee that are available at the markets.

Before heading back out for some crazy shopping on Oxford Street, I always like to take a short stroll in the residential areas of Woollahra and Paddington, where the interconnecting streets and laneways are filled with Victorian terrace houses and beautiful gardens.

Ampersand Cafe & Bookstore is the perfect cafe to wind down after a day of adventure in the suburb.

You can read a good book quietly upstairs while you enjoy an Allpress coffee and their homemade Apple and Berry Crumble. Their food is great and very reasonably priced. There are also communal tables at the basement where you can make friends with strangers. The bookstore buy and sell books, in exchange for cash or bookstore credit.
