Melbourne is one of my favourite cities. I like its well-designed and tree-lined roads (compared to what we have in Sydney) and the central grid pattern which makes the city easy to navigate. In particular, I love the many laneways that weaved through the city grid. The laneways are filled with street art, interesting cafes and atmospheric bars.
My last breakfast before flying back to Sydney was at Cumulus Inc, Andrew McConnell’s iconic restaurant in Melbourne. We were surprised to find the place quite empty that morning as we have heard many comments about long queues. The decor was minimal yet created a cosy atmosphere.
I ordered the Grilled bratwurst sausage and soft boiled egg with shaved cabbage and relish, and my friend ordered the full English breakfast (farmhouse slab bacon, blood sausage on toast, fried eggs and smoked tomato).
Overall it was a pleasant breakfast with nice food and coffee. The dishes were simple yet well presented. I wouldn’t rush back to visit as there are so many other places to explore in the coffee capital of Australia, but would definitely recommend to anyone who is visiting Melbourne!
